I check news net sites, mostly repeats or old news, hard to find anything new that is truly newsworthy. Main stream brings nothing amazing to us and really nothing really good, you know something that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. Instead we see the following!

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

Well all the outcries from the youth of America, and other “OLDER” stupid’s around the country who are Protesting the Greed in America, the Big Corporations, Wall Street, and any other group who makes our world different from third world countries. I don’t really think expert writers can express, What the Frog? Are they doing?

Just think of this, it takes NO talent to be STUPID!, and there is no law against it. These Jerks, Young Dummies, Middle aged crazies and Old Farts. All of these have never given any thought!

How did they all get notified of these protests? Smoke signals? Pony express? WHAT?

Well La-De-Da, Technology, the groups and people they hate so much. Hey man, you know, I got this call aah, you know, from this guy, you know, we all gonna go down there, you know, aah and close those. You know, greedy bastards down. Then we gonna get, you know what we are, you know we are OWED.

How many Computers? Are buzzing, Cell phones ding-donging, blackberries texting, and TV- Radio. Oh well, take it all away, might as well take away Electricity, Gas and Oil, Automobiles, and on and on!

What the Richard Heads want is hand out gimme’s and backward third world status where these HORDES of the un-washed can mill around and Bitch about not having anything! “THE WELL’S DRY”.

OK, so I blew up! Too many “stupid’s” are competing for the Darwin award, Just another positive statement for Birth Control. If you must have children, start at birth and teach them THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH.

OLD TALE

Peter Corbin Buckelew

Grandfathers story


My Grandfather Buckelew never told me if he had lived anywhere else but Eastern Mississippi and South west Alabama. That said Laurel Ms and Selma Al were the most rememberable. In the late 1800’s transportation was not always easy and this was one of those times. “Pawpaw” was still a long way from home and the story starts here.

It was a-gitten dark and the rain, thunder and lightening had started, I was still a ways from home and looked around for some place to get out of the rain. North south east and west all I could see was muddy road and bushes, then I spied it, an old barn about a good dash away, I scooted that way as fast as I could.

The old barn looked as if it had not been used for a spell but looked dry, Having no other choice I careful opened the door. To my surprise it was very dry and plenty of Hay piled in the storage bin.

Now what to do, looks like I’ll be till Morning. I looked around the Barn carefully and by the lightening flashes I found a lantern, next to t was a box of kitchen matches. I shook the lamp it had coal-oil in it and I lit it and a warm glow bathed the dark interior. ( In those days, everyone traveling usually had a bed roll and something to Chaw on, Food, Jerky)

PawPaw, laid out his Roll sat down on the blanket pulled out his chaw and settled in to get some rest. Even though the storm was still raging he was comfortable. Halfway dozing, he thought he heard someone in the barn with him, and listened again and heard breathing, Now he could hear his own heartbeat, he dared ask, Who is here with me? The answer was clear and distinct, I live here and care for the barn. Oh my Grandfather said and got up to meet his host, as he approached the rear of the barn, he looked up on a rafter and there sat a huge Cheshire Cat with a big grin, The cat spoke and said “Looks like it’s only you and me here” Heart racing Pawpaw told him, “If you will just let me get my hat, and roll, you will be the only one here.

In those times “haints” “talking cats” etc were more daunting than thunder and lightening.

Poking around in some old stuff from my Mother's house, I found the following typed on a scrap of paper. It was in an envelope that my Grandmother Buckelew had stashed away to be found later.

Statement on story, (from this week's Ala Baptist. But I think you do not read it any more than I and this was too good to miss)

A priest offered 25 cents to the boy who could tell him who was the greatest man in history?

Christopher Columbus, answered the Italian boy.

George Washington, answered the American Lad.

St Patrick, shouted the Jewish boy.

The quarter is yours said the priest but why did you say St Patrick?

Father, right down in my heart I knew it was Moses said the Jewish boy but - business is business.
